The most expected event, known all around the World is coming, Venice Carnival enchants and attracts millions of people to visit the city in this period.
Venice is getting ready to demonstrate once again its strength, and is dressing up as sumptuous as possible to welcome its magic Carnival; the fil rouge this year will be “The Game, the Passion and the Folly”.
The 8th of February 2020, Amoris Causa will open the dances, in honour of the most wise of the craziness. Passion and Folly will dance together at the sound of faraway serenades and whispered promises, in the unbelivable parade at Rio di Canareggio from 7.00pm. The show will be a journey inside the feelings that will warm up soul and body, with acrobats, jugglers, fire-breathing, and the unique design of the water allegorical float.
The second part, with traditional rowing boat properly dressed up, will be on Sunday 9th February 2020, from 10.15 am, when the epic water parade will leave from Punta della Dogana in Rio di Cannaregio.
For two awaited weeks, Venice will be the house of marvelous appointments with parades, dances and the events in San Marco Square, with the new interactive stage lightened with Arlecchino colors.
During all Carnival period, every guest can transform himself in a noble Venetian Sir or in the Price of Venice, The Doge, wearing the traditional masks and dresses.
The most glamorous and exclusive appointment in Venice is Il Ballo del Doge. Antonia Sautter is the founder and artistic director since 1994.
The Press, the Media and the Guests defined it as the most sumptuous, refined and exclusive masquerade event in the world, and one of the one-hundred things everyone should do at least once in a lifetime.
Guests and celebrities from all over the world, wearing the costumes designed and hand-made by Antonia Sautter in her Atelier, reach the Palace by water, thus immediately emerging themselves in a fantastic world made of luxurious decorations, set designs created specifically for every edition’s theme, seamless artistic spectacles with over a hundred performers, refined cuisine and drinks, music, dances and itinerary entertainment until late in the night.
The theme of Il Ballo del Doge 2020 Provocation, Redemption, Miracle Carnival is real life, or real life is nothing but a Carnival? An invitation to break free from our comfort zone, going away from what is predictable in the daily life, and wear, with a mask and a costume, a new identity, maybe the one better representing our true self. A new exciting location for this year: Scuola Grande della Misericordia di Venezia.
